COVID Regulations updated

Following a thorough review of the evidence, NACI makes the following recommendations, which apply for all of 2025 and up to the summer of 2026:

  • NACI recommends a COVID-19 vaccine for previously vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals at increased risk of SARS-CoV-2 exposure or severe COVID-19 disease, which includes the following individuals:

  • All adults 65 years of age or older

  • Those 6 months of age and older who are:

Residents of long-term care homes and other congregate living settings;

Individuals with underlying medical conditions that place them at higher risk of severe COVID-19, including children with complex health needs;

  • Pregnant women and individuals who are pregnant;

  • Individuals in or from First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities;

  • Members of racialized and other equity-denied communities; and

    Health care workers and other care providers in facilities and community settings.

  • NACI recommends that all other previously vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals (6 months of age and older) who are not at increased risk for SARS-CoV-2 exposure or severe COVID-19 disease (i.e., not listed above) may receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

  • For those previously vaccinated, most are recommended to receive only one dose per year. However, some populations are recommended to also receive a second annual dose to mitigate the waning protection from COVID-19 vaccines.

What you need to know

COVID-19 is a respiratory infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus which is part of the Coronavirus Family, that remains a public health concern due to its potential to cause illness ranging from mild symptoms to severe outcomes, including hospitalization and death. ** Some of you may remember the SARS (Virus SARS-CoV ) 2003 outbreak in Ontario, COVID-19 (Virus SARS-CoV-2) in simpler terms it is the cousin of SARS-CoV from 2003 and both fall under the Coronavirus Family.

Coronavirus are a large family of viruses that can infect many animals, including mammals like: Bats (the biggest natural reservoir), Cats, Dogs, Cows, Pigs, Camels, Humans; Coronavirus vaccines are not universal they require tailoring depending on the species, virus strain, and purpose (pet, livestock, or human health protection).

Certain groups, such as older adults and individuals with chronic health conditions, are at higher risk for serious illness, highlighting the need for preventive measures such as COVID-19 vaccination.

Unlike the flu (Virus Influenza), SARS-CoV-2 has been circulating year-round, without a clear pattern in disease activity. However, since 2022, COVID-19 activity has consistently been higher from late-summer to early January, coinciding with the fall/winter respiratory season

Royal Serenity Grooming is aware that people have made different choices and are free to do so.

Therefore to accommodate everyone and keep everyone safe, owners are not to come into the grooming area. Entrance is too small for fur clients and their owners to wait there thus Drop off and pickup will be done at the door for the following reasons:

  1. Aside from COVID, all the fur babies respond positively when they understand where the grooming territory begins. Making it less stressful for them to get used to the routine, another reason for why drop off and pickup is done at the door is that pets adapt more easily to grooming when owners allow the process to proceed without excessive comforting, helping the pet build trust in the groomer and the procedure itself rather than relying on the owner for reassurance during training.

  2. If someone is sick it is easier to talk about your pet's experience outdoor vs being inside and risking others including your pet groomer getting sick.

  3. A consistent routine makes seasonal transitions (summer, fall, and winter) easier for everyone, providing stability and predictability. It also reduces the need to constantly adjust routines or environments to prevent illness such as the flu or coronaviruses, while giving pets a dependable structure they can rely on.

    Your patience, understanding, and collaboration is greatly appreciated !
